Teach Me 1 Thing

Life purpose and destiny seem to be questions that occupy everyone’s minds at one time or another. I’m grateful for all my experiences but lately I’ve had this urge that I haven’t yet found my mission in life. You know, something that I can be successful at and still fulfill my desire to help create a better world.

purpose-wordle

Since each of us is truly unique and have experienced life in a completely different way, I feel that we all have something to contribute to society. You might call it a piece of enlightenment or the “death bed confession,” but I’d like to see us reveal our knowledge, so that others may benefit from it.  So instead of waiting until you are ready to transition from this life experience, why not contemplate what you have to add to other people’s lives right now!

Hypothetical Question: IF YOU ONLY HAD A SHORT TIME LEFT IN THIS LIFETIME, WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WOULD LIKE TO PASS ON TO SOMEONE ELSE?

*Is it something that inspired you?

*Is it a passion that you would love to teach others about?

*Is it something that you would never do again?

*Is it something that if you had made a different choice, would have changed your life completely?

*Maybe your grandmother or grandfather passed on a great insight that helped you!

*Maybe you have a fear that you were able to overcome!

*Maybe it was something that was very painful but taught you exactly what you needed to learn at that time.

I know when I started reflecting on this question, I realized that rescuing two shelter dogs was one of the best things I‘ve ever done in my life. It’s only two lives I was saving, but when you put it in perspective, that you are only one of many who does this, it’s an awesome feeling. Yes, it meant a lot of work and dedication, but being able to gain their trust and build a loving relationship has been amazing. They also get me outside in the fresh air, bring laughter through their crazy and adorable actions, and bring more energy into the house.

Here is a picture of my two pups 🙂

So you see this is just a small example of what I’m talking about.  It can be something short and simple, an article, a short story or anything that you would like to teach or pass on to others.

I’m hoping to collect many personal responses and combine them into a book or journal that can be shared by all. If you feel inspired by this question or it resonates with you, I would love to hear your response.

  2. The most important advice I would pass on to others is that each one of us has to know & love God, to obey the 10 Commandments because the commandments are the guidelines on how to live our life so there will be no chaos in our life, & to always have a positive mindset – to always feel good, happy & grateful.

  3. My best advice is to love God and he will
Give you the desires of your heart and he helps us to love self and love others. Some
Times we see things in others that can help
Us .for me am thankful and yes everyday we get out to work school that’s your purpose to live give and love it gets hard
Because everyone is not on your level
But it’s feels good to make someone
Happy. And in the end God gets the glory
    And your liight will shine

I love the part where you mention helping others and even though they may be a different than ourself, we can still help them and try to make them feel happy.

  4. When my husband died I learned that I am a stronger woman than I thought I was. It taught me that being alone is wonderful. I also discovered that part of me that is more compassionate and I am content with being alone and living alone and its okay to love again one day, because my wedding vows ended when my wonderful handsome husband died.

Thank you so much for your comment and sharing your story.

I can’t imagine what that was like to go through but to go through such a difficult experience like that and to come out of it more compassionate and discover more of yourself is amazing!

You are a huge inspiration and I want to thank you for bringing more compassion into the world.

  5. Hi Sean, I recently lost my best friend and most loved cat of 20 years. I am a widow with grown children on their own. So my cat was my constant companion. Losing her was a crushing blow! I was devastated, until I decided to save the lives of 2 kittens who needed a home. They are the best things that have come into my life since my lost. They keep me laughing with their crazy kitty antics. We are all a blessing to each.

  6. Thanks for this opportunity!! I could literally write a book on this!! Okay….so 1st & last always love yourself, for you! All people need to know themselves for exactly who they really are and be at one with theirselves which includes accepting who you are & who you are not because every individual person has specific traits for certain reason.. No I can honestly say today nothing that happens in life is ever a simple coincidence.. We all are growing daily …this is a cool thing (learning)…it’s super easy to doubt yourself or your decisions too by he way , as life can be hectic at times but always make it a point to go with the very first thought ,or answer that feels right at the time but remember the first answer or thought u have is the one to go with -which means not the one that comes second after you think about a ton of ifs, buts, and yea all that doubt can become a terrible ‘Habit’. Fortunately , all humans rule over their own habits good & bad..listen! Ask questions if you’re curious!! Life on earth is so interesting an I recommend anyone you meet ..you should Listen to what they say an observe them well ; you may only get their presence for a short time an even if they don’t seem appealing … I bet you learn something from the someone or at least the situation whether it’s good or bad … I live in TN,& it is very closed minded or the people around here (I feel as though anyway ) I love an opened mind !! I think the more diverse the better and never compare anything!! Do not compare yourself with your friends or a certain persons situation to another’s simply because it’s useless. Unless it’s research, I’d say. People sometimes divorce after marriage, this is not horrible if the two bring more harm to each other than happiness … Keep those chakras balanced!!! An if something terrible happens and you go get meds from a doctor ; never ever take Xanax ! This is big folks! That is one pill I’d never give out if I were treating patients who were troubled with sorrows and such, quick fixes are only ok for a min or so then it’s back at square one with worse feelings bc why , well quick fixes like the wonderful “Xanax ” dulls your senses! It is actually okay to be sad and go through the grieving process and cry! I tell my son all the time that there are no shortcuts to greatness an I mean that you can study all the info available to master something or you can read the notes someone jotted down for you and worry about it while knowing it could’ve been better if ya just would’ve done it right to begin with but then you’ve got your reason like it’s a lesson , lesson in life but whether it’s bad or good you work with to learn all lessons .. Listen to yourself.. Feel what you think and you’ll do exactly what your supposed to at the exact time needed.! Always find the good in everything and you can always learn through that but the hint here:you=life=control+flow+magnetism! I hope this short sermon helps in more ways than a lot 🙂 I benefit when I can help the next benefit too!!!! Love it all!

    • Hi Holly,

Thank you so much for your comments! You have so many amazing insights! One that really stood out for me is; “Life on earth is so interesting an I recommend anyone you meet ..you should Listen to what they say an observe them well ; you may only get their presence for a short time an even if they don’t seem appealing … I bet you learn something from the someone or at least the situation whether it’s good or bad.”

Recently I have made it a goal of mine to really listen to others. Everyone is so unique and has an amazing gift to give. By turning down some of my habits where I feel the need to always “contribute” to a conversation and instead just listen, my interactions with others seem to be more real and enjoyable. It has also greatly improved many of my friendships and relationships!

Thank you again for sharing and your excitement for life. It is a gift to the World.

  8. One idea that I have learned that has been my life saver through difficult times is: Change is inevitable! It may seem like this moment is your most dark, most challenging, most able to bring it all to an end; but if you can just find one single ray of hope and hold on to that ray of hope…… All changes! “For even in our darkest moment, each night gives way to a new dawn”! Every moment is an opportunity to change the situation as it is and move on into a different, better direction! Always always hold on to that hope! Never let go….. change is just a moment away!!

Thank you for your comment and the kind words.

I have been reading your daily newsletters and they have some great stuff in them.

I always try to remind myself that if we take the time everyday to move towards
our passion, we can achieve great things and share them with others.

It all starts with a small step 🙂

  12. Hi Sean,

I have learned that the most painful and difficult experiences contain important learning. As my father was dying I was able to reconcile what had been a difficult relationship and grieve for the father I wished for as well as the one I had. Live and love without regret, it brings peace

I just heard a quote yesterday that really rings true.

“Advancement of all kinds is preceded by crisis, the greater the crisis the greater the advancement!

It is truely a blessing to live and love without regret.

Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing!

I really believe we must be willing to open our hearts to recieve just as much as we give. It is the Law of Polarity.

If we can not make that space, it makes it very difficult to connect with others.

  14. The one thing I would like to pass on is: Drink distilled water to cure all your ailments, has worked for me. Can’t take the credit for this though. Andrew Norton Weber got me onto it and I have discovered its one of life’s truths that the powers that be want kept secret.

  16. If you are a parent, PLEASE teach your kids to be self-sufficient, confident, and fearless. Do NOT take out YOUR frustrations on them with abuse. I would have made different life choices had I realized that I am the ONLY one who directs my life, with guidance every step of the way from Above.
